Trick and Treat
I can't imagine our life without tricks. They are great for so many things, I don't even know where to start. They teach you how your dog thinks, create a bond, make the dogs think and use their brain, create better body awareness and they are a fun way to spend time with your dogs. You don't even need a lot of room, so there really is no excuse.
I teach all of the tricks with shaping. You can read a lot about shaping on the internet already, so I'm not going to blab about it. I love to see how they try to solve a puzzle and how the little light bulb goes on in their heads.
I start teaching tricks already to puppies, and I think it's really good for them. Of course, I adapt the difficulty to the puppy's age and do really easy things at first, but it's not really important how easy or not the trick is, as long as the dog has the opportunity to think, bond and play with the handler.
